Suki Bedeaux Interviews: APM
APM aka Audio Pusha Men are a group of Recording Artists from Luton made up of Producer Lowdeep and MC's Sean Blaze and Jai Deezy. Suki Bedeaux caught up with the guys to talk Grime, Girls and find out what makes them tick!
Hi guys I totally love your vibe. How did you all meet and come together?
Jai Deezy:
We all live in the same area and we're all able to make amazing music (jokes)...it was just natural for us to team up lol
Lowdeep:
I've known Sean and Jai for years. Around ‘08 we recorded a track together for the first time for my album Unsung. We just found that we had good chemistry in the studio so we just kept making more music after a while we just decided team up officially and try to take our music to the highest platform possible.
How would you describe your sound and style?
Jai Deezy:
we have a grime foundation which was basicaly our common ground, but being a group of individuals we also bring our own personal styles/influences to the equation. You will hear elements of hip hop/dubstep/dancehall/indie and maybe even more within our sound but mainly we try to keep it exciting, entertaining, energetic...erm...erm..jus SICK
What grabbed me about you guys was your sense of humor and your lyrics. What inspires you to write and who were your idols growing up?
Lowdeep:
Lots of things inspire us; day-to-day life, our experiences. What's quite inspiring now as well is how UK music has evolved over the years. Seeing certain artists making power moves is inspiring in itself. It's motivating.
Sean Blaze:
I wouldn't say I had "idols" but growing up I listened to alot of dancehall. The way artists like Beenie Man, Capleton Elephant Man and alot of those artists control crowds in their live performances... you cant compare alot of things to it.
Yeah that's true actually! Ok so now lets get Nasty *Laughs*. Money over bitches or groupie love?
Sean Blaze:
Groupie Love doesn't last but then again I guess money doesn't either so....... Success and Happiness Over All
Yeah thats the correct answer! *Keeps laughing*
OK so let me throw a spanner in the works. Ghetts or Pmoney and why?
Lowdeep:
Lol I think that's one that could probably go either way. Their both good at what they do. Ghetts is one of my favorite artists I've worked with him a couple of times. P Money is a credible artist as well. Gonna stay neutral with that one.
Yeah I stay neutral on that one too I love them both. Now, back to APM! What are your plans for the future? Releases, collaborations etc.
Sean Blaze:
We plan on on building a buzz at the moment while we work on our album, which should be out some time next year. So for now just expect to see more promo tracks more freestyles. We've done a few collaborations and we have a few more in mind but folks will just have to watch this space to see what we're cooking up next.
P.S. Make sure you lock into our DJ Selecta Fewie's show on Thursday night on NastyFM from 6-8 for some of the best in grime.
Thanks fellers, was a pleasure chatting to you!
